We're in Spain's "Semana Santa" with Easter celebrations already well underway. If you've tried to visit Malaga for anything but the processions this week, you'll know first hand just how busy the area is. After 2 years without the usual processions and parades, the hotels are back up to high occupancy, the town halls have dusted off the decorations and we are looking forward to this long Easter weekend and the sunshine that's coming along with it!

Holy week or "Semana Santa" is a popular time for tourists; both Spanish Nationals, who travel to visit family and friends, and of course International tourists that travel over while children are on school holidays.

There's plenty going on in and around Marbella to keep everyone busy. Processions in Marbella town will be taking place every evening this week, you can see the full programme here.

The sun is due to be shining for the remainder of this week, so you can expect the beaches, restaurants are bars to be bustling. If you are planning to eat out this weekend, booking would be advised.

For children, there are egg hunts and Easter camps taking place at lots of great locations, one of our favourites is Bubble Marbella. There's also special Easter activities taking place all week at local play centres: Kiddo Lounge in Fuengirola and Mundo Mania in Estepona. For Sunday. if you'd love to enjoy a roast dinner while your children are entertained, you can find plenty for them to do at Los Arcos Restaurant in Estepona and also at La Sala Banus where there will even be a visit from the Easter Bunny!

The bank holidays celebrated here are Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Although you may find that some small businesses close for the holidays, the main shopping centres and supermarkets in the area will remain open - La Cañada in Marbella, and Miramar in Fuengirola are both open everyday this week, including Sunday.
